The Hi-Lite Overland Front Bumper without a bull bar brings winch-ready, high-clearance armor to the 2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma with a clean, open front end. With no hoop, the grille stays visible, and the cut-back corners stay clear of rocks and ledges on steep approaches.

Backwoods Adventure Mods builds it from both metals: a 26 lb aluminum shell that won't rust, bolted to a 54 lb steel winch cradle with recovery points tied to the frame. The whole bumper weighs just 80 lb. The cradle holds winches up to 12,000 lb, hand cutouts give you access to the clutch, and a flat top platform fits a 30 in light bar alongside cutouts for pod lights.

Install is a one-person bolt-on that keeps the factory TSS, the TRD skid plate and R4T bumper caps. Factory fog lights don't carry over, winches over 10.1 in tall need the solenoid moved, and some trucks need a minor tweak to the front transmission line. Black powder coat and Grade 8 hardware are included, the structure carries a lifetime warranty, and we ship it free within the contiguous U.S.

Questions we get

Will my winch fit?Most winches up to 12,000 lb drop right in. If yours is taller than 10.1 in (the WARN ZEON is 10.5 in), plan to relocate the solenoid or slightly modify the crossmember.
Does it work with Toyota Safety Sense?Yes. The Hi-Lite keeps the factory TSS sensor working, and on the 2024+ Tacoma it also keeps the parking sensors. 5th gen 4Runners with the forward-facing camera need BAM's TSS relocation bracket (not compatible with the prerunner).
Can I keep my factory fog lights?No, the factory fogs don't carry over. The wings have cutouts for most aftermarket pod lights instead.
How hard is the install?It's a bolt-on one person can handle, and BAM has an install video for each generation. Some 3rd gen Tacomas need a minor tweak to the front transmission line.
Does the winch have to come off with the bumper?No. The winch can be mounted to the truck separately from the bumper.
Can I mount a light bar?On the 2016–2023 Tacoma version, a flat top platform carries a 30 in light bar. Every version has cutouts for pod lights.
