This full skid plate system from Backwoods Adventure Mods covers the underside of 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 trucks in double cab and access cab form. Engine, transmission and transfer case skids overlap into one continuous shield, so rocks slide along the belly instead of catching on gaps.

The plates are cut from 1/4 in aluminum, which won't rust and keeps the full system to 77 lb, while the crossmember is heavy-duty steel. A removable door gives you access to the oil drain, and drain holes let water, mud and air pass through. It ships in black powder coat, not raw as some photos show, with Grade 8 hardware.

Install is 100% bolt-on. It does not fit 2WD Tacomas or trucks with a diff drop kit. If you run a Backwoods Adventure Mods front bumper, an optional 7 lb connector plate closes the gap to the engine skid. Trucks that keep the front sway bar alongside Backwoods Adventure Mods frame brackets and reservoir shocks may need light trimming at the skid's top ears.
