The DRIFTR Roof Rack from Backwoods Adventure Mods fits the 2024–2027 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab and gives the cab roof a low, modular deck for lights, cargo and a rooftop tent. It adds no height above the factory antenna, so the 4th gen keeps its factory look and fits the same parking garages it did before.

The rack is built from 1/4 in aluminum with black powder coat and weighs just 46 lb. Five triple-slotted 1×3 crossbars are included (one braces the adjustable front fairing), along with roll-in T-nuts for mounting accessories. Pre-drilled side rails let you place crossbars anywhere along the rack, the fairings carry slotted light cutouts, and the rear fairing has knock-out chase-light pockets. Load rating is 700 lb static and 300 lb dynamic.

It's a no-drill, bolt-on install, with 3M tape and sealant in the kit, and pairs cleanly with a matching Backwoods Adventure Mods bed rack. Accessories in the photos are sold separately. Backwoods covers the structure with a lifetime warranty, and we ship it free within the contiguous U.S.

Questions we get

Do I have to drill my roof?Not on the 4Runner, Tacoma, Land Cruiser 250 or GX550. Those mount with factory points, rubber blocks and brackets on the weatherstripping. The 2022+ Tundra rack mounts with rivets, and BAM includes the drill bit, stop collar, rivets and rivet tool.

Will it work with my sunroof?Yes. BAM lists the 4Runner, Land Cruiser 250 and GX550 racks as compatible with the factory sunroof.

What's the difference between static and dynamic weight?Static is the load parked (700 lb, enough for a tent and 2–3 people). Dynamic is what you can carry while driving (300 lb). Both are well above Toyota's factory roof rating.

Can I mount lights?Yes. The fairings have slotted 1/4 and 3/8 in cutouts for light bars and pods, and the rear fairing has knock-out pockets sized for Baja Designs S1 and S2 lights.

Are the accessories in the photos included?No. Deck panels, awning brackets, traction board mounts, grab handles, lights and extra crossbars are sold separately.

How long does install take?It's a bolt-on job for most vehicles, and BAM has an install video for each one. The Tundra takes longer because of the rivets.
